Songs Of The Sea

National Maritime Museum
24th May @ 8.00pm
Tickets €20
Set sail with Cór Fingal for an unforgettable evening of music inspired by the sea. Taking place in the beautiful surrounds of the National Maritime Museum, this concert explores the ocean’s power, mystery, and beauty through a rich tapestry of choral works — from rousing sea shanties to haunting modern compositions.
Traditional songs, including a lush arrangement of Shenandoah, sit alongside thrilling contemporary works like Jaakko Mäntyjärvi’s Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae, inspired by the 1994 Baltic Sea ferry disaster. Folk songs from Ireland, Scotland and Norway tell universal stories about going out to sea, parting from your loved ones, and — hopefully — returning safely home.
Whether you're drawn to the rhythm of sailors’ work songs or the emotional depth of modern choral writing, this concert promises something for every listener
