The Maritime Museum is an ideal location for Irish Civil Ceremonies  if you are thinking of a civil marriage or civil partnership ceremony. It’s a truly unique venue, with an obviously nautical theme. We’ve been hosting Civil Ceremonies since we reopened and have received nothing but thanks and praise. Currently the numbers allowed at a wedding are dictated by the HSE guidelines which you can find here. Please remember that the number allowed at a wedding according to the HSE are total numbers – this includes those getting married, the celebrant, any musicians and guests.

We would advise that you are fully versed on the requirements for a Civil Ceremony in Ireland and you can see the latest rules on

We had our wedding ceremony at the Maritime Museum and it is the most wonderful venue. A big thank you to Siobhan and Declan who were so kind and helpful throughout the whole process. Planning a wedding in the middle of a pandemic is no easy task and they made everything as straightforward as they possibly could. This is such a stunning and unique venue for a wedding ceremony – the photographs are absolutely stunning particularly with the Baily Optic in the background.

Enya and I just wanted to say thank you so much for hosting our special day. It was perfect, better than we could have imagined given the global situation. We had a wonderful time! Thanks so much.

The most wonderful place to have a wedding. Myself and my now hubby got married in the Maritime last Friday it couldn’t have been any better. Siobhan and Declan were fantastic thanks so much for making the whole process so relaxed and special.

The National Maritime Museum truly exceeded all of our expectations when searching for somewhere to hold our wedding ceremony. A beautiful setting, we continue to have guests compliment how spectacular a venue it is. The staff were beyond friendly and helpful, with plenty of experience, placing us in capable hands to help organise our big day. Of all the hundreds of decisions you are faced with when planning a wedding choosing the Maritime turned out to be one of our very best!’

Jon & Danny 2018

‘The moment we walked into the National Maritime Museum we both knew it was the perfect venue for our wedding ceremony. The room is absolutely stunning and full of character. Siobhán and Declan were both a pleasure to deal with and full of ideas about the ceremony, and the following drinks reception, that we ended up using. In terms of planning the ceremony, it couldn’t have been easier. As it’s such a beautiful setting, very little decoration or set-up is required. We and our guests had a fabulous day at the Museum and we couldn’t recommend it as a wedding venue more.

‘Lynda and I celebrated our wedding on 1st June this year at the Maritime Museum and it was an absolutely beautiful setting. The maritime artefacts dominated by the Baily Optic, beside which we stood for the ceremony, fit wonderfully into the old church building. Close to the sea and in the heart of Dun Laoghaire, our town, it was a great location. The staff of the Museum were caring and attentive at all times. Thank you so much for a glorious day.’
