Ever since its foundation, the fortunes of the National Maritime Museum have been shaped by the active members of the Institute who generously contributed time and money to this cause. Numerous people have donated museum objects, books and archive materials. Many have contributed stories. This process is still ongoing. Every week, people contact us with their questions and observations, bring pictures and old engine parts, come to share their memories of life on the sea, life in Dun Laoghaire a generation or two ago.
Read more about the history of the Museum and Institute in our anniversary brochure.
